June 12, 2026 · wweather1 editorial · 1 min read

The US National Weather Service has placed the Portland metro area under an extreme heat warning until the evening of June 16, with daytime temperatures of 35–38°C expected.

Dangerously hot conditions are forecast for the Portland Metro Lowlands, the Western Columbia River Gorge, the Portland West Hills and Chehalem Mountains, and the Inner Vancouver Metro area in Washington State.

Daytime highs of 95–100°F (35–38°C) are expected for several days in a row. Heat of this intensity is unusual for the Pacific Northwest in mid-June, and many homes in the region are not equipped with air conditioning.

The warning was issued by NWS Portland on the evening of June 11 and remains in force until 11:00 PM local time on June 16.
