The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued an Extreme Heat Warning effective from 10:00 AM Monday to 8:00 PM MST Friday. Afternoon temperatures are forecast to reach between 108 and 112 degrees.
The alert covers multiple areas across the region, including Buckeye/Avondale, Central Phoenix, Deer Valley, East Valley, North Phoenix/Glendale, Northwest Valley, Scottsdale/Paradise Valley, South Mountain/Ahwatukee, and Southeast Valley/Queen Creek. Forecasters warn of a Major Heat Risk, noting that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events.
Overexposure to these temperatures can cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion, which can escalate to heat stroke without intervention. In Maricopa County, community members can call 2-1-1 or visit maricopa.gov/heat to find free cooling centers, water, and transportation resources.
