Flash Flood Warning Issued for Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service Mount Holly, NJ, for parts of southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey, effective until June 15 at 2:30 AM EDT. Law enforcement reports indicate flash flooding is already occurring due to heavy rainfall.

At 10:54 PM EDT on June 14, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between one and two inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is currently occurring in the region.

The expected rainfall rate is one to two inches in one hour, with additional rainfall amounts of two to three inches possible in the warned area. The hazard is flash flooding caused by these thunderstorms. This is expected to lead to the flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses, as well as other drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that may experience flash flooding include Philadelphia, Camden, Gloucester City, Cherry Hill, Norristown, Phoenixville, Lansdale, West Norriton, East Norriton, Bellmawr, Yeadon, and Conshohocken. People attending Philadelphia Stadium and Lemon Hill should seek shelter immediately. The warning includes sections of Interstate 295 in New Jersey; Interstate 476, Interstate 76, Interstate 95, and Interstate 676 in Pennsylvania; Interstate 676 and Interstate 76 in New Jersey; the Northeast Extension; and the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
