The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Flash Flood Warning for northwestern Camden County in southern New Jersey, along with northeastern Chester County, northeastern Delaware County, Montgomery County, and Philadelphia County in southeastern Pennsylvania. The warning began at 10:26 PM EDT on June 14 and is scheduled to expire at 2:30 AM EDT on June 15.
At the time of issuance, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain had already fallen. An expected rainfall rate of 1 to 2 inches in one hour is anticipated, with additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is either ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
The primary hazard is flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. Impacts are expected to include flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses, as well as other drainage and low-lying areas. Locations that may experience flash flooding include Philadelphia, Camden, Gloucester City, Cherry Hill, Norristown, Phoenixville, Lansdale, West Norriton, East Norriton, Bellmawr, Yeadon, and Conshohocken. Affected highways include sections of Interstate 295 in New Jersey, and Interstates 476 and 76 in Pennsylvania.
People attending Philadelphia Stadium and Lemon Hill should seek shelter immediately.
