The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Warning for Kings and Southern Queens Counties, effective from Friday evening through Sunday evening. One to two feet of inundation above ground level is expected in vulnerable shoreline areas.

The National Weather Service in Upton, New York, issued the Coastal Flood Warning on September 25 at 5:27 AM EDT. The warning will be active from Friday, September 25 at 6:00 PM EDT until Sunday, September 27 at 6:00 PM EDT. Additionally, a High Surf Advisory is in effect until Saturday at 8:00 PM EDT, and a High Rip Current Risk remains active through Saturday evening.

Waterfront areas are expected to experience one to two feet of inundation above ground level. The surf zone will see large breaking waves ranging from 5 to 12 feet, alongside dangerous rip currents. Flooding is projected to occur over multiple high tide cycles from Friday night through Sunday, with the most severe flooding anticipated during the Saturday morning high tide cycle.

Expected impacts include widespread flooding of roads, parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront. Flooding is also expected to extend inland along tidal rivers and bays. Numerous road closures are likely, and vehicles parked in vulnerable shoreline areas will likely become flooded.
